This hotel really scored high on the wow factor, starting from the reception area, which we mistook for an art museum, so sleek and beautiful was the decor. As you venture deeper into the hotel, you will see beautiful cafes and shops selling all manner of gorgeous items like tea leaves, books and souvenirs. There were also displays of art around the hotel, and the gardens were done up so aesthetically. My room was big and spacious and it even had a heater in the cedar-wood bathroom, which gave off a lovely aroma as you bathed. The room heater itself was placed in the wardrobe, which also served to heat up your clothes so they stayed warm when you changed into them in the morning, which was a nice touch. The futon was firm and comfortable and so were the duvets. I had the best sleep in this hotel. Service was excellent. A staff member personally showed us to our room and explained about the hotel facilities to us on the way.

It is a beautiful Besso! Traditional meets modern. Peaceful, artistic, it gets more beautiful in the evening when all the lights are on. They have a library inside the compound. We stayed in the Sasa room which was spacious and very tastefully decorated and we have our own rotenburo. I would appreciate if they provide a full length mirror in the bathroom or the foyer. The food at the restaurant was delightful and reasonably priced, my favourite was the Saga beef Hayashi rice and Saga beef curry rice. So tender, they melt in the mouth. The KAISEKI dinner and the sake pairing were awesome. Breakfast was included and we enjoyed it a lot, the only thing I would change is the breakfast menu -which is the same everyday- maybe it needs a bit more variety. The Sabai Sabai Spa was reasonably priced and they have skilled therapists. Every single one of the staff is nice and very helpful. Thank you! We hope to come back one day.

It was an exceptional stay, and we thoroughly enjoyed the use of the space, combining both modern and traditional aesthetics. There were several little nooks that added surprise as we slowly discovered them at our own pace. We were delighted with the showcase of local ceramics and tea, and the welcome tea started us on our little tea journey, the start of a relaxing two days spent here. There was plenty of seating all around the ryokan, to relax, to wait, to medidate, to just stare into nature… A big thank you to all the staff we met, from the station pick up to the small conversations at breakfast. Looking forward to visit again at a different season to experience it anew.

installation art everywhere inside the hotel, the view from 9F is satisfying. there’s lots to do in the hotel (bath / gallery / bookshop / tea saloon etc.)
